Evidence-Based lTaining

On Psychological Risk, Burnout And Performance Under Pressure.

Dr Kat has spent fifteen years in frontline psychological services, working at the severe end of mental health crisis. For the last six of those, that work has centred on military personnel and emergency responders. Her training is built on her experience within that work as well as the clinical evidence behind it.

The principles of high-stakes work do not stop at first responder services. Sustained pressure produces the same pattern wherever the cost of failure is high, the pace does not let up, and the people are the organisation’s best asset. That equally describes a police force, a hospital, a corporate team and an executive board.

Most organisations respond by teaching individuals to withstand more pressure. Dr Kat takes a different approach. Her training teaches people tactical skills and how to recognise decline early in themselves and in the people they lead, so they know what to do next.

Workshops

Managing Psychological Risk in High-Stakes Roles

For the people doing the work

What sustained pressure and exposure do over time. What burnout and psychological decline look like from the inside, using the five signs of the WARNS framework. Why the people most at risk are usually the last to raise it. Practical throughout, direct and delivered without clinical distance.

Outcome: Your people recognise signs of burnout months earlier and understand it as something with a name and a route out rather than a personal failing.

Managing Psychological Risk in High-Stakes Teams

For leaders and line managers

How to recognise change from baseline in the people you are responsible for. Why the signs get read as attitude, tiredness or a difficult patch. How to open a conversation with someone you are worried about and what to do when the answer isn’t straightforward.

Outcome: Your leadership team stop finding out at the exit interview or the sick note. They see it while there is still time to act and they know what to do next.

Tactical Psychological Skills for High-Risk Roles

For anyone in high-risk roles

Performance under pressure. Regulating arousal when it matters, holding composure and decision quality when a situation is deteriorating and recovering properly afterwards. Developed for people whose decisions carry real consequence, and applicable to anyone who has to think clearly when things are going sideways.

Outcome: Your people perform better during difficult situations and recover faster once they’re over.

Scoped to Your Situation

Sessions are also built around specific pressures: rising sickness absence, burnout, sustained periods of high demand, restructure, or the aftermath of a critical incident. The session is shaped around the problem.

Formats

Half-day or full-day workshops, or a multi-session programme for organisations building this into how they operate.

Sessions work with mixed groups and can equally be delivered separately by audience so that teams and leadership receive the version relevant to them. Every session is shaped around your organisation, your operating pressures and your existing support structures.

Dr Aguilera takes on a limited number of training engagements each year alongside her speaking and clinical work.
